By Miles Rochester

If you are a deep thinker, photographer, musician, artist of any sort or just curious about discovering the immense creative potential The College of Wooster has to offer, I urge you to hear out my proposition.

Many great artists hold that imitation is the greatest form of flattery. This does not mean that one should copy art and sell it off as your own, but instead that you should find art that you like, piece together what you like about it, and learn how to recreate what is pleasing or thought provoking in your own way. An extremely effective way of doing this is by collaborating with other artists. If you like the art they make, great! You can learn the secrets of other artists from the artists themselves.

This brings me to my proposition and the purpose for this announcement: let’s create a campus where our art is connected. Let’s learn from each other and test the limits of what can be achieved through the arts. Let’s support each other and learn as much as we can, while growth remains our primary objective. Let us collaborate to express a diverse range of emotions, to fight for what we believe in, and to bring our unique stories and beauty into the world. TheWooster Voice’s Arts and Entertainment section wants nothing more than to promote this collaboration, so if you are interested in helping us create this community, interested in joining it, or interested in writing or talking about it in more detail, please do not hesitate to reach out to Mrochester25@wooster.edu and/or Gthomas24@wooster.edu. We look forward to hearing from you.
