The leakage of highly radioactive water from a cracked concrete pit at Tokyo Electric Power Co.’s Fukushima Daiichi reactor No. 2 has stopped, the Japanese utility said early Wednesday. The leakage stopped after workers poured 1,560 gallons of “water glass”ó a sodium silicate compound ó through holes around the pit and at the bottom of the pit, a Tepco spokesman said. Japan’s government announced on Tuesday its first radiation safety standards for fish, hours after the operator of a crippled nuclear power plant said that seawater collected near the facility contained radiation five million times the legal limit.
