After breaking a 19-game losing streak against Denison University earlier this season, the Scotsí breakthrough against the Big Red was short-lived.

The Big Red (15-4, 7-3 NCAC) triumphed over the Scots (7-12, 4-6 NCAC) in a 68-46 victory.

The Big Red dominated the game immediately, establishing a 6-0 lead in the first few minutes of the game.† A basket by Taylor Keegan í11 brought the Scots within 8-4, which was the closest the Scots came in overcoming the Big Redís lead.† Just nine minutes into the game, a shot by Denisonís Shaina Kaiser gave the Big Red an 11-point lead (18-7).† A 13-2 run four minutes later found the Scots in a 22-point deficit (31-9).

Wooster finished the fist half with a strong showing of baskets by Kaitlin Krister í10 and Kristen Schwartz í12 and went into the half trailing by 22 (35-13).

The Scots returned for the second half revitalized and determined to reverse the fate of the game.† Throughout the second half they went on to equal Denisonís baskets, each team scoring 33.

There were several series in which they controlled the game.† In a 7-0 run with 14 minutes left in the game, baskets by Kelly Aughenbaugh í10, Kym Wenz í10 and a three-pointer by Sarah Abboud í12 with an assist by Keshia Butler í12 cut Woosterís deficit to 20 (49-29).

Although Denison reclaimed control of the game and rebuilt its lead, Wooster went on a 17-8 run in the final six minutes of the game.

The Scotsí were dominated statistically across the board.† Wooster shot a season-low of 25 percent (15-for-60) from the field and 11 percent (2-for-18) from the three-point range. Previously this season, Wooster has made almost 40 percent of its shots from behind the arc and made 47 percent in its last game against Denison.

Wenz led the teamís scoring with 14 points, the second-lowest high score of the season.† Krister totaled eight points, six rebounds and two blocks, while Schwartz and Abboud had six points each.

Denisonís top scorers were Kaiser with 19 points and Serafina Nuzzo with 15.

Despite early back-and-forth action between the Fighting Scots and Kenyon College in Tuesdayís NCAC game at Gambier, Ohio, the Ladies led a 15-0 run in the final minutes of the first half and went on to win the game 55-42.

The Scots took the lead early in the game with two three-pointers by Wenz, giving Wooster a 7-5 lead.† Samantha Justice í12 pushed the lead further with her own three-ball, a jumper and free throw.† A basket by Jessica Wingen í13 from an assist by Colleen Goodwillie í10 advanced the Scots to a 16-11 lead with eight minutes left in the half.

The Ladies (14-7, 7-5 NCAC) then went on their 15-0 run to close out the half, which included three-pointers by Katie Adlam, Andrea Pohly and Laurel Strokes to give the ladies a 10-point advantage (26-16).

Wenz connected on her third three-pointer with an assist by Justice and made both shots on a foul, bringing the Scots within five (26-21) at the half.

Shortly after the intermission, Schwartz brought the Scots within three (26-23) on a jumper, but that was the closest Wooster was able to get before Kenyon widened the gap. The Ladies quickly racked up another double-digit lead (35-24) and another basket from behind the arc gave Kenyon a 44-28 advantage with 12 minutes left in the game.† Kenyon eventually took the win.

Wenz led the Scotsí scoring with 15 points, four three-pointers and three steals.

Schwartz added 10 of her own, eight of them scored in the second half. Justice and Wingen each added six, and Krister added five points and five rebounds.† Stokes led Kenyonís scoring with 11 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
