  • At least seven international students attending Ohio State have had their F-1 visas revoked in the last week –– something that University President Walter “Ted” Carter Jr. was never “formally notified” of by the government, per a statement released by the University on April 8.
  • Many candidates have begun their campaigns for Ohio’s 2026 gubernatorial race, including former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy of Cincinnati. Other declared republican candidates include Heather Hill of Morgan County and Dave Yost of Franklin County. Amy Acton of Youngstown is the lone declaration for the democrats. Acton formerly served as the director of the Ohio Department of Health from 2019 to 2020.
  • The Wayne County Republican Party will be hosting their annual Lincoln-Reagan dinner with Vivek Ramaswamy as keynote speaker on April 26, beginning with a reception at 5:30 p.m. at the Greystone Event Center.
  • JD Vance fumbled the NCAA football championship trophy during Ohio State’s visit to the White House on April 14, with the trophy separating into two pieces during the ceremony.
  • Senate Bill 34, titled the “Enact the Historical Educational Displays Act,” is currently moving through the Ohio state Senate committees. It would direct the board of education of each school district in Ohio to display specific historic documents in each classroom in each school building it operates. The historic documents include: The Mayflower Compact, The Declaration of Independence, The Northwest Ordinance, the mottoes of the United States and Ohio, The Ten Commandments, The Magna Carta, The Bill of Rights, The United States Constitution and The Articles of Confederation. If passed in its current form, public schools must display at least one of the above-described “educational” documents.
  • Wawa opened its first store in Ohio on Wednesday, April 16 in Wetherington, about 30 minutes north of Cincinnati. The chain also projects having two more locations open later this year around the greater Cincinnati area.
