On Thursday, April 4, The College of Wooster hosted a “Late Night” event that featured multiple activities designed to help recently admitted students decide whether they want to commit to Wooster. However, prospective students were not the only ones who could enjoy the various activities — it was open to all students on campus.

The night started at 8 p.m. and many students first went to the Craft and Boba Tea Night, which was held in Lowry’s Allen Commons. The boba tea ran out almost immediately, with students rushing up to grab a can before rummaging through the provided arts and craft supplies. Students indulged in crafts, including origami, friendship bracelets and collages.

While students were crafting in Lowry, the Scot Center opened to serve local pizza and snacks from multiple countries. The pizza went almost as fast as the boba, and everyone had a chance to meet incoming or current students while sharing a meal and international treats.

The college’s radio station, WOO91, played music over the speakers while students talked and ate. Multiple student-led clubs, campus groups and organizations were also set up in the Scot Center. These groups stood in a half circle, with representatives eager and ready to talk to prospective students about their student organization.

“The coolest part of the night was when I got to see [prospective] students interacting with the DJ station,” said Paige Nicely ’27, Assistant Program Director of WOO91. “It is great to see possible students seeing possibilities of what clubs they could be interested in.”

Students were not only able to eat and learn about Wooster’s different student organizations — games were also set up and were ready to play. Yard games were set up on the indoor courts, including cornhole, ladder ball and bocce ball. Cornhole was a hit with students throughout the night.

Students could also play cards and board games. Several tables featured one or two card or board games each, such as “Giant Uno” and “What Do You Meme?”.

At 8:30 p.m., the most awaited activity of the night began: bingo. Almost everyone in the Scot Center met up and sat together at tables with bingo cards in front of them. Students played many rounds of bingo until the event ended. Those playing were excited to have the chance of winning various prizes, like stress balls or Wooster-themed stickers.

As the night concluded, prospective students said goodbye to the new connections and friends they had made during these many activities.

Many students hope that building these connections will help prospective students feel more comfortable. These current students look forward to welcoming some of these prospective students back to campus as members of the Class of 2029.
