NWSL Playoffs

The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) regular season is over and the playoffs are upon us! Six teams qualified for playoff spots, with the No. 1 seed Portland Thorns and the No. 2 seed OL Reign receiving byes. The first round kicks off on Sunday, Nov. 7. At 3 p.m., the Chicago Red Stars face off against the NJ/NY Gotham FC, the winner of which will play the OL Reign in the semifinals. The nightcap featuring the Washington Spirit and the North Carolina Courage will be at 5:30 p.m. The winner of the second game will advance to play the Portland Thorns, who are favored to win the NWSL championship, in the semifinals. Let the games begin!

NBA Season Underway

The National Basketball Association’s (NBA) season has begun. The Eastern Conference has been surprising early in the season, with underdogs such as the Chicago Bulls (6-1), Miami Heat (5-1), New York Knicks (5-2), and Washington Wizards (5-2) sitting atop the conference. Meanwhile, perennial competitors like the Brooklyn Nets (4-3) and Milwaukee Bucks (3-4) are off to slow starts. The West has been more predictable, with the Utah Jazz (5-1), Golden State Warriors (5-1), Dallas Mavericks (4-2), and Los Angeles Lakers (4-3) leading the pack. It will be interesting to see how the standings shake out as the season progresses!

NFL Week 8 Update

Week 8 was an exciting one for NFL fans. In the AFC, there were four games with crucial playoff implications. The New York Jets stunningly upset the Cincinnati Bengals 34-31, the Pittsburgh Steelers won a defensive slugfest over the Cleveland Browns 15-10, the Tennessee Titans won a thriller in overtime against the Indianapolis Colts 34-31, and the New England Patriots upset the Los Angeles Chargers on the road 27-24. In the NFC, the Green Bay Packers sealed a 24-21 win in the Thursday Night Game against the Arizona Cardinals with a last-minute interception, the New Orleans Saints upset Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 37-27, and the Dallas Cowboys defeated the Minnesota Vikings 20-16.
