After extensive construction work over break, Beall Ave. has been closed from Bornhuetter Hall to Gault Schoolhouse and has been replaced by a water slide.
According to Dean of Students Scott Brown, the idea for the slide first came to college administrators at 3 a.m. during a meeting with city officials on how to improve the street.
“We all just got together in a room and asked ourselves the tough questions, such as, ‘does anyone actually like Beall?’” Brown said. “So we just decided Vice described as “America’s premier water slide for undergraduates,” would be open to students immediately, though he noted that it would be swipe-only from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m.
Shortly before press time, Nathan Fein, director of residence life, contacted the Vice to clarify that while the water slide would be open during breaks, sliding would not be a valid reason for staying on campus.
The new water slide is Wooster’s second water park attraction, coming after the surprise installation of a waterfall on top of the Research Help Desk in Gault Library, which has since been moved.
