The annual International Education Week (IEW) kicks off with the International Culture Show tomorrow at 7 p.m. in McGaw Chapel. The program is sponsored by the Office of International Student Affairs (OISA) together with various campus offices and student organizations. The week long program includes events like the off-campus study program fair, a poverty awareness dinner, crafts night, a Japanese movie night, a flag-raising ceremony and, of course, the international bazaar. The entire week of events concludes with the South Asia Dinner on Saturday Nov. 19th in Mackey Hall. Campus and community members can buy tickets for the dinner in the Wilson Bookstore.

Although IEW was first held on a national level in 2000, it has been celebrated at the college for over 30 years. IEW is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, and its goals are to celebrate the benefits of international education and to recognize the global exchange environment between the United States and other countries. The first International Festival at Wooster was initiated by the foreign language faculty in the 70’s. The full schedule can be viewed in the current COSMOS newsletter on OISA’s website.
