Our photographer caught up with Dan Casto ’12 and Emma Karasz ’11 on their way to morning classes. Each were kind enough to answer our questions about their retro-inspired styles.

What are you wearing?

Dan Casto: The cords and jacket are from H&M. The sweater is from Gap, and the shoes and scarf are both from thrift stores. I get a lot of stuff at a second hand place in Columbus called Rag-o-Rama.

Do you have any fashion icons?

DC: Dylan, Mick and Keith, Scott Walker, Sean Connery, Lappo Elkann, Rogues Gallery and Save Khaki and everything in ìThe Brothers Bloom.”

Can you describe how your style has developed?

Emma Karasz: My desire to be stylish and to look good was originally inspired by the Puerto Rican girls that lived on my block in my old neighborhood. They had the best hair and the best earrings and they just knew how to work it. It was true inspiration.

Whatís your favorite decade for fashion?

EK: I don’t have a favorite decade, and I don’t really stick to one style. If I like something, I’ll wear it. Ongoing inspiration comes from† the aforementioned Puerto Rican girls, my friends, the Christian thrift store in Wooster, Clueless, religious deities, Lil Kim, drag queens and more.
