San Francisco bridge closed temporarily

The San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge closed Tuesday after a rod and metal brace from an emergency repair job fell onto westbound lanes. A pair of drivers impacted with the debris and hundreds of others were stranded, but no injuries have been reported.† According to the California Department of Transportation, the bridge will remain closed until engineers can evaluate the damage. ìIf you look at the totality of the circumstances, youíve got the 5:30 commute, you have a 5,000-pound piece of steel falling out of the sky. We are so fortunate that no one was injured or killed,” California Highway Patrol Sgt. Trent Cross told KTVU-TV.
