Environmental agency fines Holmes County

Holmes County faces fines up to $85,000 for violating codes established by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.† The organization released their preliminary findings on Sept. 15.

The fines do not include costs associated with restoring the Holmes County landfill to Ohio EPA code.

Both Holmes County and World Resources Land Management are being held responsible for the fine.

Phase I of the landfill must be capped by February 2010.† Estimates for this part of the project hover at approximately $300,000.
