Hurricane Fred increases in strength
Hurricane Fred strengthened to a Category 2 storm in the Atlantic on Wednesday.
The National Hurricane Center stated that Fred would keep to the eastern Atlantic, far from the U.S. oil and gas operations in the Gulf of Mexico.
Fred is the second hurricane of the 2009 Atlantic season. This hurricane season, the Atlantic-Caribbean basin endured five tropical storms and one other hurricane besides Fred with minimal damage.
