Rise in motor vehicle theft in City of Wooster

Wooster Chief of Police Steve Glick stated on Tuesday that there have been 252 reported thefts from motor vehicles this year, compared to the 243 this time in 2008. Police reports indicate that the middle-to-northern part of the city has the worst theft from motor vehicle rates, though these are not limited to one location and can be as high as five in one night.

Glick told The Daily Record he was aware of the increase, but could not say what measures would be taken to combat the issue. Rather, he urged residents of Wooster to take precautions such as hiding valuables in the trunk while away.
