President Anne McCall shared a statement with the campus community on Oct. 17, outlining updates made across campus and the hiring of the new vice president for enrollment management. This was McCall’s first address to the campus community since “Framing Our Future,” a Sept. 17 address where she laid out a trustee-endorsed plan for the future of Wooster, specifically targeting the next 8 years.
McCall acknowledged the ongoing Spirit Week, which concludes by Saturday, Oct. 19, and precedes this weekend’s Homecoming festivities –– formerly known as Black and Gold Weekend. McCall mentioned athletic successes, citing the 16 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships received by recent Wooster graduates. Wooster ranks third in the nation overall this year across divisions for the reception of these scholarships.
McCall referenced the “Framing Our Future” address, updating the campus community that “working groups have formed and met.” McCall discussed this in relation to the ongoing rebranding and identifying of the College’s values through focus groups and surveys shared to select groups of students and other community members.
McCall also mentioned an upcoming all-campus employee engagement survey and an informal event where she plans to discuss the work that the administration is doing to make Wooster an “employer of choice.”
McCall welcomed Jason McGrath to the community as the vice president of enrollment management, beginning Jan. 6. Cathy Finks will serve as the interim vice president until McGrath begins the position.
To close, McCall thanked the members of the “Teaching and Learning Elections Through the 2024 Election Season and Beyond” committee, as well as both the voter engagement interns and their faculty advisors.
More information, McCall said, will be released about her informal meetings with community members.
