Scot Council, Wooster’s student government board, met for their first two general assemblies of the year on Aug. 26 and Sept. 3 in Lowry 202 at 7:00 p.m.

The board’s first meeting of the year was commonplace for a general first meeting, with introductions and planning for Scot Spirit Day underway. Scot Council operates within many committees, including the constitution, budget, social justice and equity, liaison, conduct and outreach committees. The executive board is also considered a committee.

The Scot Council constitution was revised and changes were brought forward, including new attendance standards, which offer a member of Scot Council three unexcused and six excused absences.

Eight positions are vacant for the upcoming school year on Scot Council: three representatives for the class of 2028, two representatives for the class of 2026, one international diversity representative and two religious and spiritual life representatives.

During the meeting’s executive session, the new constitution for the organization was unanimously vetted by a vote of 22 yeas, zero nays and zero abstentions.

A shared document outlining the agenda for Scot Council’s Sept. 3 meeting showed their intent to vote on a club name change: renaming Hillel to Jewish Student Organization.
