-If possible, place a faucet aerator on each faucet. These inexpensive appliances conserve heat and water, while keeping water pressure high.

-Borrow from libraries instead of buying personal books and movies. This saves you money and also saves a little ink and paper that goes into printing new books.

-Keep your cell phones, computers, and other electronics as long as possible, and donate or recycle them responsibly when the time comes (yes, cell phones can be recycled!). E-waste typically contains mercury and other toxins and is rapidly becoming an environmental problem.

-You can make your own effective, non-toxic cleaning products from ingredients like baking soda, soap, vinegar and lemon. This saves time, money and packaging ó and the indoor air quality of your home will increase too!

-Plan on traveling before or after rush hours, and if possible use a GPS with real-time traffic monitoring to avoid congested roads. When a car is stuck in traffic, its fuel consumption rate can be double the rate of steady cruising speeds. During the holidays, plan to travel a day earlier or day later than peak driving days.
