On Nov. 4, Mind Matters hosted a cookie decorating and coloring night in Stevenson Hall’s kitchen. Mind Matters is a student-run organization focused on mental health advocacy and education.

“School is really stressful. We want to make sure people have the opportunity to de-stress,” Annabelle Tarter ’25, president of Mind Matters, said. “We’re so happy people came. We wanted a safe place for people to relax.”

In the kitchen, students sat around a table with cookies, piping bags, coloring sheets and colored pencils sprawled out. The room was filled with laughter and calm classical music.

“I was really able to de-stress and relax, especially since it’s election week and the semester is almost over,” Madeline Geiser-Getz ’28 said. “We got to decorate cookies and do coloring pages — it was a really fun night.”

Julia Krieg ’28 added, “I love decorating cookies, and it was great to just color and chill.”

Tarter added that Mind Matters plans on doing similar events in the future.

On Nov. 22, Mind Matters is collaborating with Common Grounds to host a journaling night from 8 p.m. until 12 a.m.. The groups are giving away free journals at this event. On Dec. 3, Mind Matters will be hosting a community mental health fair in The Alley.
