Scot Council met for their weekly general assembly meeting on Monday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. in Lowry 202.
In their opening discussion, the group discussed rebranding the weekly meeting to an “open” assembly instead of a “general” assembly. Lin Hillis, vice president of human resources and interim vice president of diversity, equity, and inclusion, was announced as Scot Council’s new second advisor.
The constitution committee finished their review of the Word Up! club. Creative Writing and Echo Choom are the next clubs set for review by the constitution committee.
The social justice and equity committee visited Special Collections on Sept. 5 and reviewed student demands throughout the years, including election years.
The liaison committee discussed that fraternity and sorority life and service housing processes will be earlier in the year. This decision came after a meeting with director of residence life Jonathon Reynolds.
Scot Council election applications are due this Friday, Sept. 13 at 5:00 p.m., with campaigning and voting to begin the following week. Scot Council will table to promote the elections next Thursday, Sept. 19, during lunch and dinner.
The outreach committee plans to heavily market elections and tabling.
The gender and sexuality diversity constituency reviewed a list of demands from 2015 from LGBTQ+ students of the College.
Scot Council will meet again on Sept. 16 at 7:00 p.m. for their next general assembly meeting, which is open to the public.
