This week, the Voice welcomed their new editorial staff for the upcoming school year.
The Voice team will be led by Editors-in-Chief Bri Becerra ’25 and Rae Harris ’25, who served as the Features and Viewpoints editors for the 2023-24 year respectively. Nemsie Gonzalez ’26 will take on the position of Managing Editor, moving up from the position of chief copy editor this year. Henry Schneiderman ’26 will serve as business manager.
The news team will consist of Julia Garrison ’25 and Gianna Hayes ’26, who will be responsible for covering campus news, fostering relationships with department and administrators, understanding the campus climate and covering events in a timely fashion that aim to keep the campus community informed. Garrison and Hayes will continue their editorial duo into their second year, which serves as Garrison’s second year on staff and Hayes’ third.
The Viewpoints team will be Zach Perrier ’25 and Amelia Guianen ’27 for the upcoming year. This will mark Perrier’s second year on staff. The editors will work to source opinion pieces from a diverse range of voices from the campus community. The editors will also field letters to the editor and gather staff and editorial opinions.
Features will comprise Claire Allison McGuire ’27 and Kiera McGuire ’27 as co-editors. This is the duo’s first year on the editorial board, but both have had prior experience writing stories for the Voice. Features will cover a large range of campus-wide events, from clubs to events hosted by student engagement. The section editors will also interview members of the community for their Scotlight series, which highlights outstanding members of the Wooster community.
The Arts and Entertainment team will be Wyn Caudle ’27 and Amanda Crouse ’27, who will cover campus art, events and occasionally media reviews. This will be Crouse’s first year on staff, while Caudle will be moving from creative section editor to A&E section editor for their second year on staff.
Creative’s section will be led by returning editor Gabriel McCreath ’25 and new editor Borenyi Zakariah ’27, who will work together to craft an engaging bi-weekly page where the campus community can contribute creative work, drawings or photographs.
Science & Environment welcomes two new editors: Zanna Anderson ’27 and Mukta Pillai ’27. The duo will work together to cover campus events through STEM organizations on campus or bigger-picture scientific issues and how they relate to the College.
Sports will be led by returning editor and business manager Henry Schneiderman ’26, with Maddie Moran ’25 joining him as a co-editor. The duo will cover Wooster’s athletic teams as they battle with their North Coast Athletic Conference friends and foes and other relevant athletics news, in and outside of Wooster.
The position of chief copy editor will be shared by returning staff members Caroline Ward ’25 and Helen Oriatti Bruns ’27. Copy editors will be Abi Geremew ’25, Nick Schade ’27 and Lain Patton ’26. Jensen Kugler ’27 will serve as an interim copy editor.
The Voice will welcome a social media manager to assist in the ease of access of information by the greater Wooster community. Creative section editor Zakariah will be filling this role for the upcoming year. Cartoonists Izzie Corley ’25 and Schade will be returning to the Voice staff for a second year.
