Scot Council met for their general assembly meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 29 in the Center for Diversity & Inclusion (CDI) Lounge.

The opening discussion included concerns about the spread of COVID-19 across campus, in which cases have doubled over the last week. The discussion included the availability of COVID tests and masks across campus, as Lowry Student Center no longer offers COVID test kits. Scot Council intends to follow up with the Longbrake Wellness Center and the Dean of Students’ office.

Before Scot Council’s meeting, Giselle Rivera ’24, Scot Council vice president, sent an email to the entire student body which offered information about where COVID tests can be found and how to report a positive COVID test to the College. She also encouraged students to mask up again.

Missions and Outcomes has been scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 29 from 5 to 6 p.m. in Allen Commons, located on the second floor of Lowry Student Center. This meeting offers a chance for students to speak directly to the board of trustees and share concerns and aspirations for the greater Wooster community. A lunch of the same name will be offered exclusively between members of Scot Council and the board of trustees.

Scot Council’s international diversity constituents are planning a Cleveland bus trip to the West Side Market and the art museums in the area. Lunar New Year takes place Feb. 10, and tabling in Lowry will occur. The Wooster World Cup will be held April 13 and 14.

The closing discussion included thoughts about revamping Wooster student advisors, a program that previously offered peer-on-peer support for students going through the conduct process –– which had been dissolved with the departure of Amy Franklin-Craft, former dean of student rights and responsibilities.
