There is a war going on.

One like we have never seen.

It’s not just of poor vs. rich

Or Black vs. White.

It is a war of the suppressed.

A war of the voices that have not been heard.

It is a war of the people whom America has failed.

America. Where your future can be determined by your zip code.

Where statues and fertilized eggs have more rights than human beings.

People are murdered for their skin color.

They die because of their sexual orientation,

Their faith, their culture.

The motivation for their deaths?

Hate.

Families locked in cages, kids going missing.

Innocent young men and women being shot.

Is this what you call America?

No longer the land of the free and home of the brave,

It has become the land of the fearful, the violent.

The land of guns and flags,

And the home of the privileged.

People demand for a fair education.

They shout “Say Their Names!”

They cry “Please don’t shoot!”

They beg us to listen.

But those who could help them most,

Ignore them.

Their privilege lets them turn their backs on the people demanding, shouting, crying, begging,

Choking.
