The Staff Committee is in the midst of conducting a series of discussions with staff about their experience working at The College of Wooster.
These discussions are being conducted to help the Strategic Planning & Priorities Advisory Committee (SPPAC) further their mission of examining compensation for College employees.
Members of the Staff Committee helping with these discussions include Alumni Relations assistant Jackie Taggart, custodial supervisor Todd Nolletti, painter Tom Lockard, groundskeeper Phil Olsen and senior programmer analyst Michael Thompson. According to Taggart, the purpose of the discussions is to “gauge staff’s perception of compensation and climate on campus.”
Taggart said the discussions were typically held with five to seven staff members and lasted 30-45 minutes. Staff who participate in the discussions are asked a series of five questions, as follows:
– What’s good about working at The College of Wooster?
– What are your biggest struggles working at The College of Wooster?
– Is your compensation package fair for the work that you do?
– What are two things that you would change, if you could?
– If you were to look for a job outside The College of Wooster, why would that be?
The committee hopes to have most of its data compiled by March of this year. Once the data is in, Taggart says the committee will summarize the findings and present a report to both SPPAC and the College president. “It is our sincere hope that out of this data, we can better serve and advocate for staff on campus,” said Taggart.
