Fall in Wooster is a highly anticipated season, thanks to the tradition of Woosterfest. 30 years old, Woosterfest this year is Friday, Sept. 26 from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 27 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. During this time, the town will be transformed as a large population gathers downtown to catch up with old friends while enjoying livemusic and great food. Woosterfest is a free admission event, open to the public.
There are many activitiestaking place this weekend including a car show, a beer stein race, a cornhole tournament and a talent show. The talent show is broken up into two groups, one for children aged between 12 and 17 and one for adults. The show involves an a capella concert, some acoustic sets and even a belly dancing performance.
There will also be several local food stalls including the much anticipated Lerch’s donuts.
There are also many activities for children and the young at heart planned for the weekend at the Kinderplatz children’s corner, one of which is Wooster’s “Believe It Or Not,” which takes place at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
The Woosterfest event has been a place for community members to congregate for the past 30 years, and almost every year, there are several live music acts that come to the festival. The 2014 lineup includes theChardon Polka Band, Wild Card, The John Hardy Band, Jynxed and Midnight Special. This year’s festivities also include a beer garden and a wine garden as well as a beer stein holding competition and fall mum sale. The downtown area will also have many art and crafts booths selling a wide variety of home and personal items.
Woosterfest is organized by the Woosterfest Committee in conjunction with the Wooster Chamber of Commerce and sponsored primarily by the Real Estate Showcase.
