Thinks he’s in charge
On Wednesday morning, Nigel Thornberry ’15 paid attention for an entire class period, despite having his laptop in front of him. Dumbfounded classmates report that Thornberry only used his computer to take notes and didn’t once go online.
“My laptop is a good note-taking tool, but paying attention in class is much more important than goofing off on the inter-webs,” said Thornberry.
Thornberry’s unprecedented feat occurred during Associate Professor Mia Mooney’s 10 a.m. sociology class, ‘Soviet Influences on Mesopotamian Cyberculture.’ Mooney encourages the use of laptops in her classes, holding that they promote collaborative integration of content delivery.
Thornberry’s classmates were surprised by Thornberry’s actions.
“Nigel didn’t once go on Facebook, Amazon or even tumblr,” said a boggled Piper Knight ’16. “He once pulled up this other application, and I thought he finally cracked, but it was just this dictionary app so he could look up ‘querulous.’ What a dweeb.”
Thornberry’s perseverance may have since worn out, as there are unconfirmed reports that he went on tumblr during his 11 a.m. economics class.
