The menís and womenís track and field teams traveled to Denison University last week for the North Coast Athletic Conference Relays.† In overall scoring, the men placed fifth out of nine teams while the women took sixth in a field of eight teams. The meet was dominated on both sides by Ohio Wesleyan University.

The men earned their place more through consistent middle-of-the-road finishes then through big wins, though they did pull off some impressive finishes. Eric Dyer í10 once again excelled at the triple jump, coming in a close second with a height of 13.03 meters, with his teammate Ramses Clements í10 in fifth at 12.26 meters. Brian Albani í10 took third in the 55-meter hurdles relay with a time of 7.97 seconds ó only 0.3 seconds behind the winning time. Robert McConnell í12 and Josh Kime í11 pulled in Woosterís other two third-place scores in pole vault and shot put respectively, with McConnell tied with two other participants at 3.95 meters. Jon Mathis í10 helped the team out by claiming fourth in the high jump at 1.78 meters.

Two teams managed to come in at fifth place, the team of Scott Simpson í13, Tom Spangler í10, Matt Solter í10 and Julian Mangano í10 in the menís 4 x 400 relay and Remington Jackson í12, Stephen Ferguson í12, Mangano and Micah Caunter í12 in the 1600 sprint medley.

The women claimed the only first-place finish of the day thanks to Abena Boamah-Acheampong í13. Boamah-Acheampong may be a first-year, but she proved her worth to the team Saturday with a first-place finish in the high jump relay at 1.60 meters, as well as a sixth place finish in the womenís 55-meter hurdles.† Besides Boamah-Acheampong and Miriam Wise í12, who took fifth out of 11 in the triple jump relay, it was a rough day for the womenís team.

The track teams will have another chance to compete when they travel to Oberlin College tomorrow.
